In the letter, the USCMO said Biden was “gaslighting the American people and the world” and strongly criticized his decision to resupply Israeli air defense systems. The umbrella group also listed several policy demands, including saying the administration had to immediately enforce “an end to the expulsion and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians by colonist-settlers” and impose a cessation of all US military and logistical aid to Israel indefinitely.

According to a BBC report, after 11 days of fighting at least 243 people, including more than 100 women and children, were killed in Gaza, according to its health ministry. Israel has said it killed at least 225 militants during the fighting. Hamas has not given casualty figures for fighters. In Israel, 12 people, including two children, were killed, its medical service says.

The United States Council of Muslim Organizations was established in 2014 by eight organizations, seven of which are part of the US Muslim Brotherhood. In May 2021, the Global Influence Operations Report (GIOR) reported that the USCMO had published an open letter calling on President Biden to appoint a State Department special envoy to monitor and combat Islamophobia. Prior GIOR reporting about the USCMO has also included:

  • A January 2021 report that the USCMO had published an online form for government jobs in the Biden administration as part of its “Empowerment and Service” program.
