Online TV Channel Targeting Palestinian Diaspora Launches Pilot Broadcast

A new online TV chan­nel aimed at the Pales­tin­ian dias­po­ra has announced the launch of its pilot broad­cast. Accord­ing to the announce­ment: 

April 11, 2021 The tele­vi­sion chan­nel “Rey­din” offi­cial­ly announces the launch of its pilot broad­cast with the start of the holy month of Ramadan, mak­ing it the first tele­vi­sion chan­nel inter­est­ed in the affairs of Pales­tin­ian com­mu­ni­ties and refugee camps around the world. The chan­nel aims to get acquaint­ed with Pales­tin­ian com­mu­ni­ties around the world, their insti­tu­tions, per­son­al­i­ties and achieve­ments, and to bring about com­mu­ni­ca­tion and sol­i­dar­i­ty between their kin­ship both inside [Pales­tine] and in the dias­po­ra. It sheds light on the real­i­ty of Pales­tini­ans in refugee camps, and seeks to con­tribute to improv­ing their liv­ing con­di­tions. The Pales­tin­ian Rajeen chan­nel will also serve as a plat­form for all Arab, Mus­lim and for­eign sup­port­ers of the Pales­tin­ian cause around the world, by trans­mit­ting their voice and activ­i­ties via tele­vi­sion and var­i­ous social media plat­forms. Rajeen will open its media win­dow to all sup­port­ers of the Pales­tin­ian cause through dia­logue pro­grams spe­cial­iz­ing in the Pales­tin­ian issue.

The announce­ment fur­ther describes the chan­nel as a lim­it­ed share­hold­ing com­pa­ny spe­cial­iz­ing in pro­duc­tion and media ser­vices and led by ‘Pales­tin­ian busi­ness­men,’ with offices in Lon­don and Istan­bul. At the moment, it broad­casts in Ara­bic with future plans to broad­cast­ing in Eng­lish and Spanish.

While the names of the Pales­tin­ian busi­ness­men behind the chan­nel were undis­closed, the chan­nel is being pro­mot­ed by Ziad El-Aloul, known to have been a leader in the Pales­tin­ian Busi­ness Forum described by the Glob­al Mus­lim Broth­er­hood Dai­ly Watch as part of the Hamas sup­port net­work. More recent­ly, Aloul has been act­ing as spokesper­son for the Pop­u­lar Con­fer­ence for Pales­tini­ans Abroad, an umbrel­la group for dias­po­ra Pales­tini­ans which an Israeli think-tank has linked to the Glob­al Mus­lim Broth­er­hood and to sup­port of Hamas.
