New Global Pro-Iranian Group Features European And US Representatives

Israeli media is report­ing on a new study of a glob­al pro-Iran­ian umbrel­la group, pro­mot­ing the goals of the ‘resis­tance axis.’ Accord­ing to the Israel Hay­om report, the group is known as the Arab and Mus­lim Union for Sup­port­ing the Resis­tance, described as follows:

Feb­ru­ary 25, 2021 The pro-Iran­ian orga­ni­za­tion, which is based in Lebanon, main­tains close-knit ties with Hezbol­lah and Shi­ite mili­tias in Iraq, the Houthi rebels in Yemen, and Pales­tin­ian ter­ror­ist groups such as Islam­ic Jihad and the Pop­u­lar Front for the Lib­er­a­tion of Pales­tine. The orga­ni­za­tion has cul­ti­vat­ed a net­work of glob­al activ­i­ty with the help of rad­i­cal orga­ni­za­tions and cler­ics, and even sec­u­lar fig­ures with the same world­view – which con­sists of the need to “fight impe­ri­al­ism and Zionism”.

The report fur­ther pro­vides details on sev­er­al rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the group in Europe and the US, said to oper­ate unen­cum­bered, although sev­er­al Euro­pean coun­tries have des­ig­nat­ed Hezbol­lah a ter­ror­ist group:

• UK – Martha Mundy, Pro­fes­sor Emer­i­tus of Anthro­pol­o­gy at the Lon­don School of Eco­nom­ics and a promi­nent pro-Pales­tin­ian activist, said to have helped coor­di­nate the orga­ni­za­tion’s inter­na­tion­al con­fer­ence. Mundy was among the founders of the British Com­mit­tee for the Uni­ver­si­ties of Pales­tine (BRICUP). Accord­ing to the Jew­ish Com­mu­ni­ty Secu­ri­ty Trust (CST), the police inves­ti­gat­ed alle­ga­tions of anti­semitism dur­ing a lec­ture that Mundy chaired by Pales­tin­ian-British jour­nal­ist Abdel Bari Atwan, titled “How much influ­ence does the Zion­ist lob­by exert in the US and UK?”

• Ger­many – Ibrahim Ibrahim, said by Israel Hay­om to serve as the group’s coordinator.

• France – the group’s unnamed coor­di­na­tor, is report­ed to have been a for­mer advi­sor to UNIFIL, the UN peace­keep­ing force along the Israel-Lebanon border.

• The US – Paul Larudee, an Iran­ian-born polit­i­cal activist who is a major fig­ure in the pro-Pales­tin­ian move­ment, is said to serve as the group’s rep­re­sen­ta­tive. Larudee was a founder of the Free Gaza and Free Pales­tine Move­ments and was a pas­sen­ger on the June 2010 “Free­dom Flotil­la” to Gaza, involved in a vio­lent alter­ca­tion with Israeli naval forces.

The report adds that the Arab and Mus­lim Union for Sup­port­ing the Resis­tance also has rep­re­sen­ta­tives in Africa and Australia.
