Israeli media is reporting on a new study of a global pro-Iranian umbrella group, promoting the goals of the ‘resistance axis.’ According to the Israel Hayom report, the group is known as the Arab and Muslim Union for Supporting the Resistance, described as follows:
February 25, 2021 The pro-Iranian organization, which is based in Lebanon, maintains close-knit ties with Hezbollah and Shiite militias in Iraq, the Houthi rebels in Yemen, and Palestinian terrorist groups such as Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. The organization has cultivated a network of global activity with the help of radical organizations and clerics, and even secular figures with the same worldview – which consists of the need to “fight imperialism and Zionism”.

The report further provides details on several representatives of the group in Europe and the US, said to operate unencumbered, although several European countries have designated Hezbollah a terrorist group:
- UK – Martha Mundy, Professor Emeritus of Anthropology at the London School of Economics and a prominent pro-Palestinian activist, said to have helped coordinate the organization’s international conference. Mundy was among the founders of the British Committee for the Universities of Palestine (BRICUP). According to the Jewish Community Security Trust (CST), the police investigated allegations of antisemitism during a lecture that Mundy chaired by Palestinian-British journalist Abdel Bari Atwan, titled “How much influence does the Zionist lobby exert in the US and UK?”
- Germany – Ibrahim Ibrahim, said by Israel Hayom to serve as the group’s coordinator.
- France – the group’s unnamed coordinator, is reported to have been a former advisor to UNIFIL, the UN peacekeeping force along the Israel-Lebanon border.
- The US – Paul Larudee, an Iranian-born political activist who is a major figure in the pro-Palestinian movement, is said to serve as the group’s representative. Larudee was a founder of the Free Gaza and Free Palestine Movements and was a passenger on the June 2010 “Freedom Flotilla” to Gaza, involved in a violent altercation with Israeli naval forces.
The report adds that the Arab and Muslim Union for Supporting the Resistance also has representatives in Africa and Australia.
