European Quranic Council Holds Conference in Istanbul

On 26 Decem­ber 2023, the Euro­pean Coun­cil for the Holy Quran (ECHQ), a the­o­log­i­cal coun­cil of imams and schol­ars found­ed in 2022 and close­ly tied to the Mus­lim Broth­er­hood in Europe, report­ed about its first con­fer­ence in Istan­bul, held from 22–25 Decem­ber 2023. Accord­ing to the conference’s final state­ment, the event aimed to lay the sci­en­tif­ic foun­da­tions for the cur­ric­u­la of Quran­ic schools and insti­tutes through­out Europe. Accord­ing to the ECHQ, more than 50 Quran­ic insti­tute rep­re­sen­ta­tives par­tic­i­pat­ed in the con­fer­ence. The event brought togeth­er a large num­ber of Euro­pean MB lead­ers, includ­ing for­mer Coun­cil of Euro­pean Mus­lims (CEM) Chair­man Samir Falah, Ahmed Al-Rawi, a long-time pres­i­dent of the CEM pre­de­ces­sor FIOE, and Inter­na­tion­al Union of Mus­lim Schol­ars board mem­ber Issam El-Bashir.
