The European Youth Event (EYE2021), a gathering of youth organizations from across the continent, was held from 8 to 9 October 2021 at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. The event featured a delegation of the Forum of European Muslim Youth and Student Organizations (FEMYSO), a youth umbrella organization closely tied to the Muslim Brotherhood. According to the EYE2021 website:
The European Youth Event (EYE) brings together at the European Parliament in Strasbourg thousands of young people from all over the European Union and beyond, to shape and share their ideas on the future of Europe. It is a unique opportunity for 16 to 30 year olds to interact in-person and online, inspire each other and exchange their views with experts, activists, influencers and decision-makers, right in the heart of European democracy.

According to FEMYSO, their delegates came from over 14 European countries and also included senior leaders, such as current FEMYSO President Abdelrahman Rizk.
One panel discussion, titled ‘Fighting discrimination: Towards a more inclusive society,” was moderated by FEMYSO Head of Media Hande Taner, a member of the Council of Europe’s Advisory Council on Youth. Taner also held a workshop on the impact of COVID-19 on education and participated in a FEMYSO-organized workshop on young people in the democratic process. The event’s opening ceremony was addressed by the Mayor of Strasbourg, while other EYE2021 sessions have seen appearances by MEPs, including Evin Incir (Sweden) and European Parliament Vice-President Roberta Metsola (Malta).
FEMYSO is the youth/student arm of the Council of European Muslims, formerly known as the Federation of Islamic Organizations in Europe (FIOE), known to represent the Global Muslim Brotherhood (GMB) in Europe. One of the important leaders of FEMYSO over the years has been German Muslim Brotherhood leader Ibrahim El-Zayat, and in recent times, its leadership has been drawn from the family of important GMB leaders. Almost all of the FEMYSO member organizations are also tied to the Muslim Brotherhood in Europe. Over the years, FEMYSO has developed relationships with the Council of Europe, the European Commission, and many other significant organizations at the European and international levels.
