The live-streamed event was addressed by FEMYSO President Hande Taner and FEMYSO Head of Campaigns Nourhene Mahmoudi. It featured contributions by representatives of several European civil society and human rights organizations with ties to the Global Muslim Brotherhood (GMB), including:
- Nadia Asri, Head of Network Development at the European Network Against Racism
- Loubna Reguig, President of Etudiants Musulmans de France
The event also featured an address by Iratxe Garcia Perez MEP, the President of the European Parliament’s progressive Socialists and Democrats group (S&D). Other contributors included Italian S&D MEP Brando Benifei and Özgecan Kara, Secretary-General of the Federation of Young European Greens.
FEMYSO is the youth/student arm of the Council of European Muslims, formerly known as the Federation of Islamic Organizations in Europe, known to represent the Muslim Brotherhood in Europe. One of the important leaders of FEMYSO over the years has been German GMB leader Ibrahim El-Zayat, and in recent times, its leadership has also been drawn from the family of important GMB leaders. Almost all FEMYSO member organizations are also tied to the European Muslim Brotherhood. Over the years, FEMYSO has developed relationships with the Council of Europe, the European Commission, and many other significant organizations at the European and international levels.
The Global Influence Operations Report (GIOR) has long covered GMB efforts to dominate the European discourse on anti-Muslim racism and Islamophobia. FEMYSO is heavily featured in an August 2022 GIOR report titled “Europe and the Global Muslim Brotherhood Part 2: Lobbying & Political Impacts,” which analyzes GMB lobbying efforts at the executive and legislative bodies of the European Union.
