Islamist sources are reporting that new elections have been held for the Palestinians in Europe Conference. According to an announcement on the Facebook page of the European Palestinian Media Center, the leadership elected for four-year terms were:
- Amin Abou Rashed, Head, Netherlands (formerly part of the Dutch Union of Good member)
- Mazen Kahel, Deputy-Head, and Secretary-General, France (Treasurer of the French Union of Good member)
- Ahmed Sakina, Netherlands, Secretary
The Union of Good was a global charity headed by Global Muslim Brotherhood leader Youssef Qaradawi that was designated by the US in 2008 for the funding of Hamas.
The newly elected leadership replaces Majed Al-Zeer, called by Israel a Hamas activist in the UK, and Adel Abdullah (Aka Adel Doghman), identified by the US a Hamas leader in Austria. The announcement also names the newly elected members of the Palestinians in Europe Conference board:
- Ahmed Kan’an, Belgium
- Tahani Al-Badu, Sweden
- Hussein Khadr, Denmark
- Raed Al-Salahat, Italy
- Zeinab Khalil, Italy
- Ali Shtiwi, Germany
- Issa Taha, Denmark
- Fadi Al-Tayesh, Germany (Palestinian Community in Germany, PGD)
- Mohammed Hannoun, Italy (head of the Italian Union of Good member)
- Musa Al-Rifai, Sweden
- Harmas Harmas, Austria
- Wafa Ibrahim, Germany
The Palestinians in Europe Conference first convened in London in 2003 and has been taking place annually in various European cities. Its main sponsor has been the UK.-based Palestinian Return Centre (PRC), which describes itself as “an independent, non-partisan, organization committed to advocating for Palestinian refugees, in accordance with the historical, political and legal basis of the right to return.” The PRC to the Global Muslim Brotherhood/Hamas and current and past PRC directors have also been directors of the Muslim Association of Britain (MAB), a part of the UK. Muslim Brotherhood. The PRC is also an affiliate of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), which frequently acts in concert with UK Muslim Brotherhood groups. PRC activities are often promoted by the MAB, MCB, and other UK Brotherhood organizations.
