Doha Forum Hosts Leading Decision Makers Alongside Global Muslim Brotherhood Figures

 

Qatari media is report­ing on the 20th Doha Forum, which took place at the Sher­a­ton Hotel in Doha between 26–27 March. Accord­ing to Al-Jazeera, the Doha Forum:

March 27, 2022 Doha, Qatar – The 20th edi­tion of the Doha Forum, which kicked off at the Sher­a­ton Hotel in the Qatari cap­i­tal, is the biggest glob­al plat­form that brings togeth­er pol­i­cy lead­ers to dis­cuss crit­i­cal chal­lenges fac­ing the world, pro­mote the inter­change of ideas, and action-ori­ent­ed rec­om­men­da­tions. Under the title Trans­form­ing for a New Era, the two-day forum will host a num­ber of dis­cus­sions cen­tred around geopo­lit­i­cal alliances and inter­na­tion­al rela­tions; the finan­cial sys­tem and eco­nom­ic devel­op­ment; defence, cyber­se­cu­ri­ty, and food secu­ri­ty; and sus­tain­abil­i­ty and cli­mate change. In his open­ing address, Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani spoke about the need for the glob­al com­mu­ni­ty to reimag­ine a new world order.

The Doha Forum, which took place under the patron­age of the Qatari Emir, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, describes itself as:

..a glob­al plat­form for dia­logue, bring­ing togeth­er lead­ers in pol­i­cy to dis­cuss crit­i­cal chal­lenges fac­ing our world, and to build inno­v­a­tive and action-dri­ven net­works. Under the ban­ner ‘Diplo­ma­cy, Dia­logue, Diver­si­ty’, Doha Forum pro­motes the inter­change of ideas and dis­course towards pol­i­cy mak­ing and action-ori­ent­ed rec­om­men­da­tions. In a world where bor­ders are porous, our chal­lenges and solu­tions are also interlinked.

The list of Forum speak­ers for this year’s events includes senior gov­ern­ment offi­cials from var­i­ous Mid­dle East­ern and Euro­pean coun­tries, includ­ing Ukrain­ian Pres­i­dent Volodymyr Zelen­skyy, who spoke online. Also attend­ing were heads of NGOs and think tanks such as the Munich Secu­ri­ty Con­fer­ence Foun­da­tion, also list­ed as a strate­gic part­ner. Forum speak­ers also includ­ed the fol­low­ing indi­vid­u­als tied to the Glob­al Mus­lim Brotherhood:

  • Osama Abu Irshaid, Exec­u­tive Direc­tor of Amer­i­cans for Jus­tice in Pales­tine Action, a polit­i­cal advo­ca­cy group launched in Sep­tem­ber 2021 by the AMP. Irshaid is also a board mem­ber of the US Coun­cil of Mus­lim Orga­ni­za­tions (USCMO)
  • Wadah Khan­far, pres­i­dent of the Al-Sharq Forum and for­mer Direc­tor-Gen­er­al of Al Jazeera Media Net­work, with a pos­si­ble Hamas back­ground
